Splinter Update: Students who move super car made of wood

The world of green Supercar project very well. The last time I checked with Joe Harmon and his team of craftsmen Holzhauer of the State University of North Carolina, all the cars from the timber body was connected with the case, what was up to the installation of dual turbochargers, 32-valve V8 engine of Cadillac and six-speed manual gearbox source on the back of a Chevrolet Corvette Transaxle modern. 600 horses are channeled to the rear wheels, the core plywood and pressed, of course. Also, the springs Leaf springs horizontal indicators are made of wood Osage orange.

Work on the project has been slower, Harmon and his colleagues can conclude the school, but also Splinter to the attention that they were in a book published by the magazine Auto flattering. Until the team of Splinter graduates to meet the car once and for all take a look at the new high-resolution versions of art and craft Supercar.

The Splinter is one of the few projects that are truly inspiring, Harmon and to show that the wood is a material is not outdated - the scripts in expensive luxury cars of course - in the modern automobile industry. Point taken.
